Birth doula supportA birth doula gives you continuous emotional, physical and informational support before, during and right after birth. We work with your partner and your medical team, never in place of them.
A Cochrane review of 26 studies found that people who had continuous one-on-one support in labor were more likely to have a spontaneous vaginal birth and less likely to need a cesarean or pain medication. Labors tended to be shorter, and parents were less likely to feel negatively about their birth experience.
We help you understand how labor works, which decisions you may face, and what matters most to you. We help you write birth preferences and prepare questions for your provider.
Comfort measures like counter pressure, position changes, massage and breathing. Encouragement through every stage, and help speaking up for what you want.
We stay for the first hour or two to help with the first feeding and help your family settle. Then we check in at home within the first two weeks.
Inductions happen. Labors run long. Cesareans are sometimes needed. Your doula helps you understand what's happening, ask questions, and feel supported no matter how your birth unfolds.
Every family is guaranteed backup doula coverage. Depending on the circumstances, your backup may be another Nurture & Nest doula or a doula from our network of trusted partners.
Our doulas have supported peaceful birth-center births and home births, high-risk pregnancies, twins, VBACs, unmedicated births and births with an epidural. We support hospital, birth-center and home births throughout our service areas. About half of the births we attend are in a hospital, and half are at a birth center or at home.

Sarah Hong · Google review“Courtney was my doula for my second baby and she was amazing! She was so kind and supportive. I had an unmedicated birth and I could not have done it without her by my side!”
Halli Juvers · Google review“Courtney was so personable, very easy going and very much was prepared for our birth plan and things we discussed with our doula prior to going into labor.”
Luda Yasinsky · Google reviewWhen should I hire a birth doula?
Most families book in the second trimester, but it's never too late to reach out. On-call support starts at 38 weeks.
Will a doula replace my partner?
No. We support your partner too, showing them comfort techniques and helping them feel confident, so you go through labor as a team.
Do you support epidurals and hospital births?
Yes. We support every kind of birth. Our job is to help you have the birth you want and to walk hand in hand with you through any changes in plans.
What if my doula can't make it?
Every family is guaranteed backup doula coverage. Depending on the circumstances, your backup may be another Nurture & Nest doula or a doula from our network of trusted partners.
Free consultations by phone or video. We'll listen, answer your questions and match you with a doula who fits.
